Blu & Shadow
We wanted to bring another dog into our lives for several reasons: we have the space, lots of love to give and company for our current Weim "Tilley".
As no Weims were available in Ontario we were told that Michigan had quite a few - upon looking into their web-site we immediately fell in love with Blu - a Weim with a tail (similar to "Tilley") we knew right there we had to have him regardless of his "Special Needs" - he is blind.
Prior to heading down we did meet up with a friend who had a blind dog and discussed the implications of owing a blind dog. We decided it might be best to adopt a second dog "Blu" was familiar with thus completing our family - at least for now.
When we got to the rescue we met "Blu" right away and realized how well adjusted he is, you would hardly know he was blind. It was very difficult to choose the second Weim, and Tilley didn't help matters either - she loved them all ———- we eventually decided upon "Shadow" a Blue Weim. We are very happy the way things have worked out - Tilley, Shadow and Blu all get along great.
We think Tilley is very happy with her new brothers, as she and Shadow are younger they run and play together. As for Blu it didn't take him long to figure out the layout of our house, and he gets around with only small bumps into walls and furniture - he even climbs the stairs and knows exactly where to find the bed - which is where they all sleep.... with us.
Blu is a very loving and well behaved dog who loves to go everywhere we do. No one in our neighborhood can believe he is blind. Blu is one of the best dogs we have ever owned, and we would not hesitate to own another blind dog.
