The founding members of this rescue started Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue in May of 2005 This rescue was started for the love of our Weims. Our first rescue weim walked into our arms in May of 2005 needing love, medical attention, and compassion. Since then we have helped more then 100 homeless weims. 90 of those weims have already found their way into loving forever homes.

The founding members wanted a rescue where the weims came first. We made a commitment to the weims: we will dig deep into our pockets to help the sick weims become well again, we will hold the scared weim and make them calm again, we will use a professional behaviorist when needed to determine how we can best meet the needs of a weim with a troubled past. We will take the old weims, the young weims, and the weims in between and find them loving forever homes.

GLWR has grown to 40 members strong and still growing. We have become a well respected rescue in the shelter and pound communities. All of this is because of the wonderful group of volunteers that we have that do fund raising, fostering, public information events, home checks, transportation, website mistress, our jewelry ladies, and of course our rescue vet Doc. Connell, and all the nice folks at C-Snip, It has been a great 3+ years for GLWR and many more to come!!

I have seen first hand how well this organization is working and they are always in need of help either in adopting a Weim or a charitable donation. Money helps a lot and there are a lot of Weim's in need. They are a fantastic group of people who not only help anyway possible with the adoption but go those extra steps after the adoption to ensure that both the new owners and the Weim's are very happy. Cheers to them and the good that they do.....I know the Weim's are very grateful to you guys for all of your efforts.
